WHAT IS STEWARDSHIP ?
One of the basic precepts of the Church is that Catholics are obligated to belong to and to support their parish. In both the Old and the New Testament, the teaching was applied to Tithing -- where a tithe was considered ten percent of the treasures that God had given to His people. The gospels layered onto the teaching of tithing the concept of Stewardship. Stewardship is recognizing the gifts that God has given us and so we commit our lives to use those gifts well.
Today, very few Catholics have been taught to tithe or be good stewards. Often God and the Church only get the leftovers from the gifts that we have been given. The consequences of our not being good stewards often force parishes to run on very tight budgets with low wages for Church workers and substandard goods and services being used to "make do" instead of having buildings and programs that are truly worthy of giving back to God.
It is our hope at Saint Henry Parish community that all parishioners will be good stewards of their time, talents, and treasures -- and in so doing recognize both the gifts that God has already shared and the gifts that God has to share with us if we are ready to be generous with our lives.
Our legacy of faith can also continue by remembering Saint Henry Parish or the Diocese of Beaumont in wills and bequeathments. If you need assistance in planning for these types of gifts, please contact the parish office.
PARISH ENVELOPE
PLANNED
GIVING SYSTEM
By using the Parish Envelope Planned Giving System, parishioners can have an organized and consistent way of supporting the parish and our special collections for the Church needs throughout the world. It is an established fact, that parishioners who use Parish Envelope Planned Giving System account for over 80 per cent of our weekly parish contributions.
If you choose to use our Parish Envelope Planned Giving System, envelopes will be sent to your home every two months to help you plan how to budget your gifts to the Church. Contact the Parish Office to support St. Henry parish community using this convenient plan.
If for some reason you are unable to come to the weekend liturgies, you can mail your contributions directly to Church via the Parish Office.
The Diocese of Beaumont consists of, is responsible for, and is supported by over fifty parishes and missions in South East Texas. The mission of the Church in South East Texas is vast and daunting. Funds for all of the Evangelistic, Educational, and Ministerial programs are raised in two ways:
1)
a tax (Cathedraticum), paid as a reasonable portion of the parish income
and
2) Individual charitable
contributions to the "Bishop's Faith Appeal" from parish
families to fulfill or exceed the parish goal.
By supporting the "Bishop's Faith Appeal", parishioners are directly assisting the ministries of the diocese. Any funds that are above the stated parish goal are returned back to the parish (non taxed) to be used for parish programs and needs. The Bishop's Faith Appeal is a wonderful way to support both the Diocesan and parish ministries. For more information on how you can contribute to the "Bishop's Faith Appeal" please contact our Parish Office.
The Saint Henry Memorial Fund is a way to remember the special moments and people in our lives by contributing to the ongoing building and maintenance projects of the parish. Gifts offered in the names of others will be acknowledged by cards and prayers.
By enrolling those who have died in the Memorial Fund, the family of the deceased will be sent a card letting them know of your gift and assuring them that the deceased will be remembered in the prayers of the Church. You may also offer Memorials for the living as a way to commemorate Anniversaries, Birthdays, or thanks. Memorial Cards will be sent cards letting them know that they will be remembered in the prayers of the Church.
The mass intentions for the Christmas and Easter masses will be for those remembered in the Memorial Fund.
For more information on Saint Henry Memorial Fund, please contact our Parish Office.
