Saint Henry Community is committed to being disciples to those who are in need. We have made commitments to share our resources in both the local and the global community. Parishioners are encouraged to assist in National Collections, Missionary Appeals, diocesan collections and organizations, and through area Catholic and Ecumenical benevolent societies.
Ministering to the needy is a global ministry. Each year Saint Henry parish is assigned a missionary appeal to assist the Catholic missions throughout the world. We also try to have a Parish Mission each Lenten season with a special collection going to the religious order or group offering the Parish Mission.
Each month and on Christmas, there is a collection for the Saint Vincent DePaul Society. These funds are divided to serve the needs of impoverished parishioners, and the ecumenical service groups of the Bridge City/Orangefield Ministerial Alliance ( the poor of the area) and Orange Christian Services ( the poor of Orange County). By sharing funds and responsibilities our parish and local churches attempt to responsibly reach all the needy of the area.
The Bridge City/Orangefield Ministerial Alliance is the cooperative effort of the churches of Bridge City and Orangefield to work together to assist the needy. Sharing funding and staffing, our churches strive to find long term solutions in a Christian manner for people finding themselves in dire straits. Our parish supports BCOMA through our Saint Vincent DePaul funds, special collections, and food and clothing drives through our Religious Education program. Led by the pastors of our local churches, the community celebrates ecumenical prayer services at Thanksgiving and Palm Sunday.
Orange Christian Services is a cooperative effort of the churches of Orange County to serve the poor by sharing in the staffing and the funding responsibilities of this ministry. OCS serves the poor by offering help with bills, and operating both a community food pantry and clothing closet. St. Henry parish communty helps fund OCS through our Saint Vincent DePaul collections and grocery drives on the first weekend of each month.
