Lay Ministries
All baptized Catholics living a Christian lifestyle can answer the call to ministries that reflect their gifts and charisms. It is our hope that all parishioners will accept their call from God to share their time, talents, and treasures with the Christian community and to serve the Body of Christ.
-
Eucharistic Minister: Often Catholics say that they are not worthy to distribute the Eucharist in the Body and Blood of Christ, which is true. None of us is truly worthy, priest, deacon, or lay person, but we are still called to serve God in humility. If you are invited to train, please give prayerful thought to accepting the invitation.
-
Lector..."proclaim the good news": The call to proclaim the Word of God is a beautiful way to share the scriptures. Proclaiming the scriptures carefully and prayerfully helps those celebrating the Eucharist recognize that God has been with us from the beginning, is with us now, and will be with us for all time. All confirmed Catholics from the age of 16 and older who are living a Christian lifestyle are welcome to serve in this ministry.
-
Choir..."make a joyful noise unto the Lord": Singers and musicians of all ages are invited to share in this beautiful ministry that enhances the liturgy and gives glory to God. Using both contemporary and traditional hymns, we have music at all weekend and Holy Day liturgies in accordance with the call to truly "celebrate" the Eucharist and to join in the songs of the angels at the altar of God.
-
Usher/Greeting Minister: A joyful welcome to all who come to celebrate the Eucharist is the true mark of a Christian community. Ushers assist in seating attendees, in collecting the gifts of the faithful, and in distributing the weekly bulletins that keep parishioners informed. This ministry is open to all confirmed Catholics who are over the age of sixteen.
-
Altar Server..."I will serve at the Altar of God": Boys and girls from the fourth through twelfth grades who have received their First Communion can assist at the Altar. This is a wonderful way for youth to respond to God's call to service and a special privilege to be so close to the act of Consecration.
-
Minister to the Homebound..."I was sick and you visited me": Visiting the sick has always been part of the Christian call to service. We have some Catholics who are homebound or in nursing homes but would still love to receive the Eucharist and hear scripture. If you would like to learn more, call the Parish office.
